The Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium has launched new episodes for each of our podcast series: “Bridging the Gap” and “AYA Cancer in Focus.”

The most recent episode of “Bridging the Gap” is titled, “Patient perspective: A Black woman’s personal experience regarding clinical trial treatment.” In this episode, Dr. Coral Omene from Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey talks with Tina Butts, a breast cancer survivor, about her experiences as a Black female patient in a clinical trial. It is an illuminating and touching conversation about resilience, faith, and the emotional realities of life with cancer. The most recent episode of “AYA Cancer in Focus” is titled, “Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Research and Survivorship: Helaina’s Story.” In this episode, Dr. David Dickens from the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center talks with Helaina Hillyard, an adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivor, about her experiences. Helaina and Dr. Dickens share a heartfelt conversation about hope, resilience, and the realities of navigating life with cancer.
